Community Potluck (sponsored by People with Disabilities and Senior caucuses)
The effects of the One Big Beautiful Bill will begin late 2026 and early 2027. Our goal for this event is to educate our entire community on these effects, with the emphasis on our People with Disabilities and Senior Citizens. We will also highlight existing services for People with Disabilities and Seniors that Dickson County currently has to offer.
PLACE: Montgomery Bell State Park, Park Office Pavilion – closest Pavilion to the Main Office. The space has multiple tables and benches and is open air but covered. There is a children’s playground and a shallow stream nearby.
WHAT: A community Event and EVERYONE is welcome! A FREE Pot Luck lunch with delicious barbecue, live music and great speakers addressing the affects of the bill to essential services, which are important to the world of the Disabled and the Elderly.
PARKING: The Park Office Pavilion is ADA compliant with attached parking and an ADA compliant ramp down to the Pavilion. This pavilion has extra parking that the Rangers will open for us to use that day.

The Women’s caucus will meet the first Tuesday of every other month. The Women’s Caucus provides a space for members to discuss issues that matter to them, build community, and support one another in their personal and professional lives, as well as advocate for Women’s rights and gender equality.

Join us for month two of the Nevertheless We Read Sumner Dems book club. This month, the NWR will be reading Let This Radicalize You by Kelly Hayes and Mariame Kaba. The book is available in physical, e-reader, and audiobook format.

Join us for our monthly Pints With Progressives! Each month, the SCDP visits a different local eatery for drinks, food, and friendship.
Location changes each month between Gallatin, Portland, and Hendersonville. This month, join us at Tailgate Brewery in Hendersonville! The first hour will be primarily mingling to get to know each other better - then order your meal and sit down to enjoy it with your table mates. We’ll see you there!

This month, we’ll be celebrating the grand reopening of our office and hearing from Luis Mata with TIRRC Votes. The TN Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition played a huge role in stopping the passage of HB793, a bill that would allow undocumented immigrant children to have to pay for public education. Join us to learn more about what TIRRC does and how we can help.

SCDP Office Cleanup
The Sumner Dems are one of the few counties across our state to have a consistent office space, and we want to make it as welcoming as possible. With that being said - oin the Sumner Dems for an office cleanup!
We’ll be organizing the back closet, painting the walls, giving the floors a good scrub, and getting the office into shape for new events, caucus meetings, political trainings, and more.
Come wearing cleaning or painting clothes - all welcome! Kiddos who are willing to help more than welcome, and feel free to drop in for a few minutes or stay the whole time.
Volunteer Opportunity: Food Distribution with Unlimited Potential
The Sumner County community can use a helping hand, and you can be those hands. Put on your blue finery or your Sumner Dems T-shirt and join fellow SCDP volunteers to help distribute food at the Spring Drive-Thru Mobile Food Pantry sponsored by Unlimited Potential. Check in at the desk in front of the First Baptist Church Winchester in Gallatin between 8:15 and 8:30 a.m., then begin helping sort, pack, and distribute fresh and canned food to your fellow community members when they drive through the lot until food runs out or the last vehicle is loaded, usually before noon.
